The Northern Lake Superior Métis (NLSM) would like to invite you to a consultation as we chart our path to self-governance. We greatly look forward to engaging with the community and to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

The Northern Lake Superior Metis Leadership Committee to Self Government was founded as part of the path to self government and self determination, and our mandate is to further Metis rights in Northern Ontario, and specifically in communities that encompass Thunder Bay, Geraldton, Marathon, and Terrace Bay. The advancement and recognition of Métis rights has long been sought. The Northern Lake Superior Métis Community is one of seven Metis communities in Ontario recognized as a “historic Metis community”. The Northern Lake Superior Metis region is the 2nd largest of the 9 Métis Regions in the MNO, of which 6 are Rights Bearing. The leadership committee is accountable to its membership, which includes over 1800 people. The Northern Lake Superior Metis is exploring options towards self-government, and are encouraging anyone to contact us with any questions at info@northernlakesuperiormetis.ca.
